GainerA gainer, in fat fetishism, is someone who overeats with the specific intention of becoming fat, or growing fatter. It is a term usually only used in the gay male community of the fat admiration subculture. The term gainers roughly equates with the term feedee used in the weight gain community on the internet, although gainers tend to be seen as less submissive because they often work at fattening themselves up without help. The equivalent of a feeder is the gainer community is an encourager. For some, gaining is a sexual fetish; others simply seek to grow fat because they consider it to be aesthetically pleasing, but not necessarily sexually arousing. Many gainers are already considered to be clinically obese before they begin gaining, but wish to become even fatter. For example, someone may decide to start gaining weight on purpose when they already weigh 250 or 300 lb (136 kg). Other gainers begin when they are thin and gradually grow to be fat. Both groups are equally common. Gainers usually set themselves weight goals. Some people only wish to gain a little bit of weight so that they can go from being thin to having a small paunch. Others wish to gain tremendous amounts and become massively obese, although people who actually succeed in reaching weight goals of 500 lb (227 kg) or more are rare, because of the associated impracticalities and health risks of becoming so fat. A lot of younger gainers have set themselves very high weight goals and may actually realize them in the future. A small group of gainers desires to become so obese that they can no longer move under their own volition, hence the term immobile. Actually, the idea of immobility features in the fantasies of many gainers but only a very few would be willing to actually try it. For one thing, they would need a full time encourager/lover to take care of all their needs, and the number of encouragers willing to do that is fairly small. Good sources of information on gaining include GainerWeb.com, the original gainer website for people (note that its profiled users are virtually all male and only 3% identify as heterosexual) of all ages above 18, and FatPeace.com, the replacement message board for the website FatNats, a popular but unfortunately no longer existing website for teenaged gainers, encouragers, FAs and overweight teenagers, open to all sexual persuasions.
