gaim (babylon 5)

The Gaim are a race of aliens who are a member-race of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds on the television series Babylon 5. Their name and costume are a tribute to Neil Gaiman, an author whose most popular character, the Sandman, wears a "battle helmet" identical to the gasmasks worn by all Gaim. The Gaim are an insectoid race. Their ambassadors are specially bred to have a loose humanoid-based appearance, and for their diplomatic role. Gaim require an enviornmental suit in order to function in a oxygen / nitrogen atmosphere, which includes a helmet. The Gaim are led by the Queens. The Gaim often end conversations by saying, "...the Queens be with you."
