Frequency Multiplier
A
frequency multiplier
is commonly used in a
radio transmitters
to multiply the
base frequency
of the
oscillator
by a predetermined number. This multiplied frequency is then
amplified
and sent to the final drive stage and into the
antenna
tuning/coupling circuit for delivery to the transmitting antenna. One field of use for a frequency multiplier is for fiber optic cables. Because of the impurities of the glass, the signal has to be repeated every five miles or so.
