Frantisek Kupka

Frantiek Kupka (September 23, 1891 - June 24, 1957) was a Czech painter. He was born in Opocno in eastern Bohemia. He studied at the Prague Art Academy, Akademie der Bildenden Küste in Vienna, Académie Julian in Paris and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Kupka's contribution to the early phases of the abstract movement is increasingly being recognized.
