Franois PronFranois Pron (1775 - 1810) was a French naturalist and explorer. In 1801 Pron travelled to Australia as a naturalist on the expedition of Nicolas Baudin. With the artist Charles Alexandre Lesueur he took over the duties as naturalist after the death of the expedition's zoologist Maug de Cely. Together they collected over 100,000 zoological specimens. Pron and Lesueur returned to Paris in 1804 and began publishing their findings in Voyage de dcouvertes aux Terres Australes, the first volume of which was published in 1807. Pron also worked on a journal entitled Mmoire sur les stablissements anglais la Nouvelle Hollande. He died of tuberculosis before publication of the second volume of Voyage....
