frank longbottom

In the Harry Potter series of books by J. K. Rowling, Frank Longbottom is the father of Neville Longbottom. He and Alice Longbottom were tortured to insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange, sending Neville to his grandmother's while himself going to St. Mungo's with his wife where he has resided ever since. He was one of the best aurors the ministry had, but does not remember anything and is insane. His wand was used by Neville Longbottom while he attended Hogwarts until it was broken in Order of the Phoenix in the Department of Mysteries. Frank is assumed to be a few years older than James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans, and Severus Snape, though Rowling has not yet confirmed this.
