Frank Borzage

Frank Borgaze (23 April 1893 - 19 June 1962) was an Italian-American film director famed for his mystical romanticism. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, for his 1927 film, Seventh Heaven he became the first person ever to win the Academy Award for Directing. His other films include: Street Angel (1928), A Farewell to Arms (1932) and Strange Cargo (1940), among many others. After 1948 his output became sporadic. His last film work was sequences on Edgar G. Ulmer's L'Atlantide (aka Journey Beneath The Desert) (1962), for which he went uncredited. Frank Borzage passed away in 1962, and was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California.
