frances olsen

Frances Elisabeth Olsen (born 1945) is a professor of law at U.C.L.A. and a noted member of the school of Feminist Legal Theory. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, received a B.A. from Goddard College in 1968, a J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1971 (where she was a member of the law review, and an S.J.D. from Harvard University in 1984. In 1973, Olsen represented Native Americans at Wounded Knee; she also established a public interest law firm in Denver, Colorado that handled feminist issues. She has written more than 100 scholarly articles, authored several books, and edited two collections on feminist theory. Her article The Family and the Market, 96 Harv. L. Rev. 1497 (1983) is one of the most-cited works in legal scholarship.
