Fpcon

FPCON is name given to the threat level systems used by the United States Department of Defense. It is an abbreviation standing for "Force Protection Conditions". It replaced the old "THREATCON" levels due to confusion with United States State Department system of threat assessment. There are five Force Protection Conditions. These, in order of lowest to highest threat level, are Normal, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta.
  • FPCON NORMAL - is applied when there is no discernible terrorist activity. This only demands a routine security posture. The minimum FPCON is NORMAL.
  • FPCON ALPHA - is applied when there is a general threat of possible terrorist activity, the nature and extent of which is unpredictable and does not justify full implementation of FPCON BRAVO measures.
  • FPCON BRAVO - is applied when there is an increased threat or a more predictable one.
  • FPCON CHARLIE - is applied when an incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating imminent terrorist action.
  • FPCON DELTA - is applied when a terrorist attack has occurred, or intelligence indicates likely terrorist action against a specific location.
