forcelance

A forcelance is a fictional weapon from the TV series Andromeda. The forcelance shoots effectors (or smart bullets) which can function like a normal bullet, have a preprogrammed target, or be set to mortar intercept mode. The forcelance can also fire plasma bursts or be used as a flashlight. A special attachment allows it to launch a grappling hook. The forcelance is about 15cm long, but can be extended into an approximately 2m long staff for close combat. The forcelance can be programmed with users DNA sequence so that unauthorized users will be electrified. It can also be fired remotely, but this will trigger the electrification. The forcelance is the High Guards weapon of choice because of its superior fire power and versatility.
