Floyd Zaiger

Floyd Zaiger (1926- ) is a biologist who is most noted for his work in fruit genetics. He also founded Zaiger's Genetics. He was born in Nebraska and grew up in Iowa. He spent his life in the pursuit of the perfect fruit. Zaiger was often distraught with the limited and simplistic nature of the produce section. It troubled him on a daily basis, until it came to him; this world needs a new fruit, an incredible fruit, comprising two already great fruits: the plum and the apricot. Finally, after decades of careful testing and tasting, he created the now great dinosaur Pluot(plew-ought). See pluot for information on the fruit. Zaiger, Floyd
