Florida Recount

The Florida Recount was a lengthy period of vote re-counting that occurred following the unclear results of the 2000 US presidential election. A recount of the ballots sponsored by a consortium of media companies after the decision by University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Center found that George W. Bush would have won even had Al Gore got what he wanted: a hand recount of four select counties. The media companies involved were the Associated Press, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, the St. Petersburg Times, The Palm Beach Post, The Washington Post and the Tribune Co., which includes the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, the Orlando Sentinel and The Baltimore Sun.
