Flashdance

Flashdance is a 1983 movie that was produced by Adrian Lyne. It stars Jennifer Beals and Michael Nouri. The screenwriter was Joe Eszterhas. Numerous allusions to this movie now appear throughout television shows, movies, music, and video.

Plot

Flashdance tells the story of blue collar worker Alex (Beals). She works as a dancer in a bar at night, and in a construction site as a welder during the day, but dreams of joining an upscale dancing school. Alex meets her construction company boss, played by Nouri, and they quickly fall in love. Meanwhile, she keeps practicing hard, waiting for her opportunity to join a school to come up. When it finally does, she is rejected, but she refuses to give up, and, with the help of her boyfriend, she is given a second chance. Alex trains even harder and is given a second chance. After a long dancing routine she gets accepted to the school, marking what would be the beginning of a successful career in non sensual dancing. Tagline: What a feeling. This movie has been considered a 1980s Hollywood classic by many. Its soundtrack included Giorgio Moroder's smash hit Flashdance... What a Feeling (sung by Irene Cara), as well as other hits, such as Michael Sembello and Dennis Matkosky's She's A Maniac.
