Figueres Figueres is the capital of the comarca of Alt Empord, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is located at 39 metres above the sea, near the Pyrenees and the French border. The population was 33,157 as of 1996. The town was the birthplace of artist Salvador Dal, and houses the Teatre-Museu Gala Salvador Dal, a large museum designed by Dal himself which attracts many visitors. External link
