Figgkidd

Figgkidd is an Australian rapper whose debut single "I Gotta Know" reached the top 50 of the ARIA singles charts in November 2004.

Biography

Figgkidd grew up in Bankstown and listened to hip hop and r&b as well as rock. He was a member of an r&b group with three girls from his high school, which won talent quests. He started writing raps at the age of 14 and won his first open mic competition at 16. Figgkidd left school after starting to get paid to MC at Sydney nightclubs. In 2001, Figgkidd formed a crew called The Outfit which played the Lilypad at the Big Day Out and supported international hip hop acts like Ugly Duckling. However, The Outfit split after Figgkidd to sign his crew with his producer Liu and pursue a commercial direction, the group split. Figgkidd started work on his What is Figgkidd album recorded in Sydney and Los Angeles. He signed a record contract with Sony Music Australia in 2003. The album was produced by Lui, Red Foo and Sefu. The first single "I Gotta Know" was written about Los Angeles strip clubs. It was produced by Red Foo who has worked with the Black Eyed Peas and featured Tech N9ne who has worked with Tupac Shakur and Eminem. The What is Figgkidd album is due release in Australia on November 22, 2004. Figgkidd will be supporting Cypress Hill on their 2004 "Still Smokin" tour of Australia in December.
