Fibrinolytic
The fibrinolytics
are a class of
pharmaceuticals
that act as thrombolytics by activating
plasminogen
to form
plasmin
. Activated plasmin degrades
fibrin
and so breaks up
thrombi
. The fibrinolytics are used in thrombolytic therapy of
myocardial infarct
and
pulmonary embolisation
.
The most important fibrinolytics are:
streptokinase
alteplase
reteplase
tenecteplase
