Fan Kuan

Fan Kuan (范寬 ca. 990 - ca. 1030) was a Taoist painter in Song Dynasty. Kuan is listed as the 59th of the 100 most important people of the last millennium by Life magazine. Kuan painted the seven feet tall "谿山行旅? Travelers Amid Streams and Mountains". It is an example of the landscape style of painting. It is also a model for other Chinese artists. Kuan based the painting on the Taoist principle of becoming one with nature.
