Eurogix

EuroGIX is a Global Internet Exchange (GIX) located in Alsace, France. Following the great democratisation of Internet services in the United States, the number and the complexity of the provider's network connections have quickly exceeded the capacities of a single exchange node. Thus the GIX concept (Global Internet eXchange) was developed in order to guarantee a more stable and homogenous infrastructure of the global network. Many European countries understood the need of having several GIXs on their territory: Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom already have several ones. France remains for the moment far behind. The particularly attractive Alsatian situation on the 3rd axis in the world of information exchanges (London-Frankfurt-Zurich-Milan Axis) makes it the ideal place for the establishment of a GIX with an international vocation: the EuroGIX.
