Estelle Axton

Estelle Axton was the co-founder (with her brother Jim Stewart) of Stax Records. Axton mortgaged her home in 1957 to raise the money to help start the soul music record label (originally called Satellite Records). She was actively involved with selecting and developing the artists on the label. Axton died in February of 2004 at age 85.
