Estado Novo (Brazil)

The New State is a new type of government where all legislative bodies vanished, political parties were banned, and all kinds of media were censored. This Estado Novo was put into place by Brazilian President Getlio Vargas in 1937. The New State was a strong nationalist movement which celebrated the racial mixing of the Brazilian people and even Brazils strong African heritage. In dealing with the economy, the New State opened the doors to allow Brazil to further the nations goals and welfares.
