Essonodon Essonodon is a mammal genus from the Upper Cretaceous of North America. It was a member of the extinct order Multituberculata and lived towards the end of the "age of the dinosaurs." It's within the Suborder of Cimolodonta, and perhaps the family Cimolomyidae. Genus: Essonodon Simpson G.G., 1927 Aka: Cimolodon (partly) The inclusion of this taxon within Cimolomyidae is tentative, (Kielan-Jaworowska & Hurum 2001, p.408). Species: Essonodon browni Aka: Cimolodon nitidus Marsh, 1889 (partly) Place: Hell Creek, Montana & San Juan Basin, New Mexico & Wyoming (USA) Age: Maastrichtian, Upper Cretaceous A large multi, which weighed in at over 2,5 kilos.
