Erwen

In the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, Erwen is a daughter1 of Olw, wife of Finarfin, and mother of Galadriel, Finrod, Angrod, and Aegnor. She stayed in Aman after the flight of the oldor. She is said to be friends with Anair, Fingolfin's wife. She presumably still lives with Finarfin. Her name means "Sea-maiden". "Er"="Sea", "Wen"="Maiden"
1In the family tree of Elw in the Silmarillion, Erwen is given as the only child of Olw, but in the 60th page it states her having brothers, whose names are unknown. It is possible that Erwen could have unrecorded brothers and sisters, and that Olw had several children as opposed to only one.
