Ernest Starling

Ernest Starling was a British physiologist born on April 17 1866 and died on May 2 1927. Starling is most famous for developing the "Frank-Starling Law of the Heart", as Starling put it:
"The law of the heart is thus the same as the law of muscular tissue generally, that the energy of contraction, however measured, is a function of the length of the muscle fibre"
Starling was elected fellow of the Royal Society in 1899.
