Eritrea At The Summer Olympics

Eritrea (ERI) made its Olympic debut at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Four years later, 15 athletes from Eritrea were sent to the 2004 games in Athens and Zersenay Tadesse won the country's first ever medal when he was placed third in the 10000-meter run. Eritrea is looking to establish itself in the long distance running events, in which fellow African nations like Kenya and Ethiopia have enjoyed Olympic success.
