Erik Trolle

Erik Trolle (died 1530), elected regent of Sweden, under the Kalmar Union, in 1512. He was Lord Justice of Nericia and a member of the Privy Council of Sweden from 1487. Erik Trolle was born around 1460 and was apparently aiming at a clerical career. He studied at the universities of Rostock and Cologne, had positions as Canon in Uppsala and Linkping but was never ordained. He married the wealthy Ingeborg Filipsdotter (Tott) and settled on her manor Ekholmen in Uplandia. Trolle was elected regent (riksfrestndare) at the meeting of the Privy Council of Sweden in 1512, but never actually took office. Trolle, Erik
