Erconwald

Erconwald (died c. 693) was a bishop of London in the Anglo-Saxon Christian Church. Little is known of his family, except that it was regal. Erconwald gave up his share of family money to establish two religious houses: the convent of Barking and the monastery of Chertsey in 661. He placed his sister, Saint Ethelburga at the head of the convent, while he served as abbot of Chertsey. In 675, he became the bishop of London, after Wini. He was buried in St. Paul's Cathedral in 693. His feast day is April 30.
