Empacher

Empacher (company name Bootswerf Empacher GmbH) is a manufacturer of boats. Originally building sailing yachts, it was founded by Willy Empacher in 1923 in Knigsberg, East Prussia. In 1952 they started producing racing rowing shells, and this is the main business today. They are currently based in Eberbach, Germany. The company's boats have an impressive number of international rowing wins, with about 60% using them in the World Championships and Olympic Games. 55% of the medals at the 2004 Olympics were won in Empachers.
