Emily Mclaughlin

Emily McLaughlin (1 December 1930 - 26 April 1991) was an American soap opera actress. She was born in White Plains, New York. She starred on the soap opera General Hospital as Jessie Brewer, R.N. from 1963 to 1991. She played second fiddle to John Beradino's character, Steve Hardy. While a slight air of sexual tension was implied between the two characters, nothing came of it, and they were good friends until Jessie's death. As the 1980s progressed, McLaughlin's health started to fail. In 1984, she expressed the wish to be shown less. Her character was phased out in 1985, and in many respects Jessie was replaced with Ruby Anderson (Norma Connolly) in Port Charles General Hospital. By 1986, she was only shown on the serial a couple of times a year. She would continue with this schedule until her death in 1991. Shortly after Miss McLaughlin's passing, Jessie's death was written into the show. McLaughlin, Emily McLaughlin, Emily McLaughlin, Emily
