Emil Hirsch

Emil Gustav Hirsch (1851-1923), born in Luxembourg, was a major Reform Judaism rabbi in the USA. In 1892 he became professor of rabbinical literature and philosophy at the University of Chicago. From 1885 to 1897 he also served on the Chicago Public Library board. He was an influential exponent of advanced thought and Reform Judaism.
