Elizabethtown (Hamlet), New York

Elizabethtown is a hamlet located in the Town of Elizabethtown in Essex County, New York. It is the county seat of Essex County and the location of the town government. The name is from Elizabeth Gilliland, the wife of an early settler. Elizabethtown is in the northern part of the town, located at the junction of Routes 9 and 9N. The Boquet River (pronounced BO-kwet) flows past the east side of the hamlet.
