Elisha Kent Kane

Elisha Kent Kane (February 3, 1820 - February 16, 1857) was a U.S. scientist and explorer. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kane became a surgeon for the United States Navy in 1842. He sailed in the first Grinnell expedition which hunted for the lost Franklin party. He died in Havana, Cuba.
