Electric City is a town located in Grant County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 922.

History

Electric City was officially incorporated on August 4, 1950.

Geography

  City is located at 47°55'51" North, 119°2'10" West (47.930865, -119.036069). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.26% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 922 people, 382 households, and 291 families residing in the town. The population density is 659.2/km² (1,706.3/mi²). There are 420 housing units at an average density of 300.3/km² (777.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 89.59% White, 0.22% African American, 7.05% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 2.28% from two or more races. 1.84% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 382 households out of which 27.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.6% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.8% are non-families. 20.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.74. In the town the population is spread out with 23.1% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 18.4% from 25 to 44, 33.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.3 males. The median income for a household in the town is $42,321, and the median income for a family is $47,969. Males have a median income of $46,667 versus $20,288 for females. The per capita income for the town is $19,388. 12.4% of the population and 11.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 18.0% of those under the age of 18 and 9.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
