Elections In Spain

Elections in Spain gives information on election and election results in Spain. Spain elects on national level a legislature. The General Courts (Las Cortes Generales) have two chambers. The Congress of Deputies (Congreso de los Diputados) has 350 members, elected for a four year term by proportional representation in each province. The Senate (Senado) has 248 leden, 208 members elected for a four year term in four-member constituencies and 40 members designated by the regional legislatures. Spain has a two-party system, which means that there are two dominant political parties, with extreme difficulty for anybody to achieve electoral success under the banner of any other party. Regional parties can be strong in the autonomous comunities like Catalonia and the Basque Country.
