  • Redistricting following the 1980 census eliminated the 22nd district and put Eckart in the 11th district. In 1982, Eckart won re-election from that district.
  • Prior to 1968, Vanik had been the incumbent representative for the 21st district. However, in 1968, he moved to the 22nd district, resulting in a race between two incumbents.
  • In 1940, after the death in office of Chester Bolton, Frances Bolton (his wife) was elected in a special election to fill out his term.
  • Possible error in records: Simon B. Fitzsimmons, the Democratic nominee in 1928, is likely the same person as Sam B. Fitzsimmons, the Democratic nominee in 1924. No indication which is the correct name.
