Elbow Cay
Elbow Cay
is a six-mile long
cay
in the
Abaco
Islands of the
Bahamas
. It is known for its
key lime pies
and beautiful scenery. The 18th century village of
Hope Town
is located on Elbow Cay, built around a protected harbour. Golf carts are the main mode of transportation there. Hope Town is known for its red and white striped lighthouse (36m (120ft)), built in
1863
by the
British Imperial Lighthouse Service
. In
1999
, Elbow Cay suffered significant damage from
Hurricane Floyd
.
