Eddie GordoEddie Gordo Eddie Gordo is a computer game character first apearing in Tekken 3 published by Namco in 1998. Since then either Christie Monteiro or Eddie Gordo has appeared in each sequel. Both charaters train in the brazilian martial art of capoeira and is many peoples first introduction into the art of capoeira. Most people who play the game think that he is a breakdancer since many capoeira and breakdancing moves are similar. Namco did a surprisingly good job of representing the art although the already colourful names of techniques were changed and some moves that are more breakdancing were added. As a fighter due to him using capoeira he is quite unpredictable and that must be used in order to win rounds. It has to be said that Eddie Gordo owns all the other characters and is far better than Julia Chang. The Story Eddie Gordo gets sent to prison. I cant remember why, but while in prison he learns capoeira from an old mestre who later turns out to be Christie Monteiro's grandfather. He serves his large sentence and becomes a master of capoeira. Upon leaving jail he decides to enter tekken number something or other because this somehow will help him find his father who has been killed. I think Eddie may have been framed for this Crime. As a Mestre There has been some talk of weither Eddie Gordo has been good for the game of capoeira. On one hand he is popularize the game of capoeira, but on the other he is adding to the misconceptions about the art. Capoeira still has strong underlying philisopies which havent been seperated to create a corporate sport like has happened to most martial arts.
