Eddie George

Edward Nathan George, Jr. is an American football player, born September 24, 1973 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After attending a prep military school in Virginia, George starred at Ohio State University. He won the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Award in 1995. Following the season, he was the first-round draft selection of the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans). George won several NFL Rookie of the Year awards in 1996, and was the Titans' starting tailback until 2003, and has never missed a start due to injury. On June 20, 2004, he married singer Tamara Johnson. He has a son, Jaire, by a previous relationship. George signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys on July 23, 2004 for $1.5 million plus incentives that could earn him more than the $4.25 million he would have made under his contract with the Titans, who released him on July 21 due to their salary cap.
