Ecosphere

Ecosphere has several different meanings:
  • In astronomy an ecosphere is an imaginary shell of space surrounding stars where conditions are such that life might survive. See habitable zone.
  • In ecology the ecosphere refers to the global ecosystem of a planet, whereas the biosphere is restricted to the totality of living things.
  • In education, an ecosphere is a closed ecosystem useful for learning about ecology. It is also available as a novelty gift.
