Eagles Mere is a borough located in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 153.

Geography

Eagles Mere is located at 41°24'41" North, 76°34'50" West (41.411459, -76.580595). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 5.8 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.3 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.44% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 153 people, 84 households, and 51 families residing in the borough. The population density is 28.7/km² (74.4/mi²). There are 378 housing units at an average density of 70.8/km² (183.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 99.35% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 84 households out of which 6.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.1% are non-families. 36.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.82 and the average family size is 2.25. In the borough the population is spread out with 5.2% under the age of 18, 2.6% from 18 to 24, 17.0% from 25 to 44, 34.0% from 45 to 64, and 41.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 62 years. For every 100 females there are 86.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.5 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $40,833, and the median income for a family is $63,750. Males have a median income of $36,250 versus $17,813 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $29,052. 3.1% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
