E-manE-Man was a fictional super-hero published first by Charlton Comics, then several other independent publishers. Charlton Comics Created by Nicola Cuti (writer) and Joe Staton (artist), E-Man was published by Charlton from 1973-74, in E-Man #1-10. Another story appeared in the fanzine Charlton Bullseye #4. E-Man is really an intelligent packet of energy thrown off a nova. Traveling the galaxy he learned about life, how to duplicate the appearance of life, and about good and evil. Coming to Earth, he met exotic dancer Nova Kane, and formed himself into E-Man, with a civilian identity of "Alec Tronn". He became a superhero. Nova would later be caught in a nuclear explosion and gain the same powers as E-Man and become his partner. The stories were humourous and light hearted, in the style of Plastic Man, especially as E-Man could form himself into anything he wanted. Another character that popped up in the series was detective Mike Mauser, who got his own backup series in Charlton's Vengence Squad title. First Comics First Comics would buy the rights for E-Man from Charlton, then turn them over to Cuti & Staton. They then started a new series that ran twenty-five issues, as well as a seven issue mini-series that reprinted all the E-Man stories and the Mike Mauser stories. Staton did the artwork, but the stories were written by Marty Pasko. They were more satirical than the original Charlton series. After First Comics After First Comics went under, Comico published E-Man. They did a one-shot, then a three issue mini-series in the early 1990s. Later on, Alpha Productions did a couple of one-shots in the 1990s. His latest appearance was in Comic Book Artist #12 in 2001, one of two Charlton-focused issues they did. External Links
