DreamspeakersThe Dreamspeakers are a fictional group of Shamans animist mages. They are a tradition of mages in , a role-playing game created by the White Wolf game studios. They are masters of the Spirit Sphere. They all believe that everything found in nature has a personification, a spirit. These spirits may be prayed to, summoned, controlled, manipulated and appeased in different ways. The methods themselves are dependant on the culture that produced the Dreamspeakers. Dreamspeakers are actually the least coherent of the founding traditions of the Council of Nine. This is not due to them being badly organized, but them actually being forced into a single group. During the founding of the Council, groups of mages of all paradigms and cultures gathered together to talk about a common path that would help the Mystics weather the fall of magic and wonder in the wake of the rise of technology and reason. During the formation of this organisation, the strongest and best organized groups were the most vocal (especially the Order of Hermes who were the progenitors of this Convocation). Soon, when the formation of the council was underway and the seats were being given to the traditions with the greatest numbers and most influence, two issues arrised. First was the problem that many lesser traditions remained unrepresented, or their small numbers didn't allow them to get their opinions in. Some of them felt left out and left. Others remained. All of these groups were named Crafts by the Council. While the large seat holding groups were named Traditions. Second, a large group of shamen from all over the world came to the Convocation following a dream about a gathering of strangers. The number of cultures, groups, individuals and paradigms covered by these newcomers was staggering. In a stroke of dubious wisdom the Order of Hermes chose leaders among them, even with most of them not understanding the language of others, and gave the seat of Spirit to all of them, collectively naming them the Dreamspeakers. The Dreamspeakers of today are not a very interconnected group. Cultorological, geographical and historical differences divide them. The fact that the Spirit pantheons they interact with are quite different, doesn't help. They are decentralized and most of their efforts don't extend much further than the location of the particular group within the Dreamspeakers. However, the leaders appointed by the Dreamspeakers fought hard to create a community that will work for common interests, and that is represented by their wisest and most powerful members in the Council of Nine. The foci and methods of the Dreamspeaker Paradigm revolve around the specific culture from which the Dreamspeaker has came from, these are mostly aboriginal cultures. The common foci include meditation, singing/chanting, natural hallucinogens, animal/human bones, dancing and prayer.
