Dreamscape (Movie)

Dreamscape was a 1984 science fiction film directed by Joseph Ruben and written by David Lougherty. The premise of the movie is a U.S. government-funded project to train psychics to enter other people's dreams. The cast includes Dennis Quaid, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Kate Capshaw, and George Wendt. The government-funded project is a clinic to diagnose and treat sleep disorders, particularly in the form of nightmares. However the project goes awry when the President of the United States is admitted into the clinic, and sinister agents use the president's nightmares in an attempt to have him assassinated. The hero, Alex (Dennis Quaid, aided by Kate Capshaw) uses his psychic gifts to save the day. The dream sequences include special effects, including giant snakes and nuclear apocalyptic scenes. The film also has a love interest between Quaid and Capshaw, but it is stiffly-acted and not very engaging.
