Draenor

Draenor is a planet in the Warcraft universe — a fictional universe in which a series of games and books are set. The planet is the homeworld of the Orcs.

General information

Draenor is rather briefly referred to in and , but in and , players visit the blasted hellish world of the Orcs. Draenor is a planet of relatively warm climate with most of its landmasses covered with praires and woods of giant mushroom-like plants. The sky color varies from orange to red. Draenor is the home of the noble shamanistic Orcs, the brutish Ogres, the inventive Goblins, and the all-but-extinct Draenei. However, the orcs are later influenced by the Burning Legion and turned into ferocious and merciless warriors. They also begin to wield warlock magic that causes the corruption of the whole planet. Little by little, the praires disappear, to give ground to red wastelands. The whole world is slowly dying. Later, Ner'zhul's attempts to open dimensional gateways causes the destruction of Draenor. Earthquakes, volcanoes and giant tidal waves ravage the land that is eventually destroyed by an apocalyptic explosion. Still one piece of Draenor, the Hellfire Peninsula (and parts of the Mountains of Flame), survive the explosion and hover through space as the still inhabitable planetoid, Outland. The brutal pit lord of the Burning Legion, Magtheridon, arrives to the world with his demonic troops, transforms the survivng orcs into Fel Orcs (a.k.a. Chaos Orcs) and assumes power in the ravaged world, with the center of his dominance, the Black Citadel. From there he rules over Outland with the aid of his most trusted lieutenants - The Master of Pain and The Mistress of Torment.
