Disney's Blizzard Beach Water ParkBlizzard Beach is a water park located within the Walt Disney World resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The theme of the park is the "Disney legend" of a freak snowstorm in the area, leading to the construction of Florida's first ski resort. Naturally, the snow didn't last long, leaving behind a collection of waterlogged but snowless ski jumps and chair lifts. The failed resort was in the process of closing for good when an alligator was seen sliding down a flume and splashing into a pool of water, screaming "Yahoo!!!!" Thus the "ski resort" was reborn as a water park, with the alligator (named the "Ice Gator") as mascot. Blizzard Beach's featured attractions include: - Summit Plummet, touted as the world's largest and fastest free-fall body slide, which stands 120 feet tall and sends riders hurtling into a pool at speeds up to 55 miles per hour.
- Teamboat Springs, a 1200-foot-long "family raft ride" through rapids and waterfalls.
- Tike's Peak, a children's play area with gentle slides and water jets.
- Runoff Rapids, three inner-tube slides down the slopes of Mount Gushmore. (Two of the slides are open and one is completely enclosed.)
- Cross Country Creek, a gentle lazy river tube ride that travels the circumference of the park.
- Melt Away Bay, a one-acre pool with a mixture of gentle waves and "pounding waterfalls".
- A chairlift that transports guests to the top of Mount Gushmore, where the entrances to many of the slides and flumes are.
Blizzard Beach also contains a gift shop and several dining areas offering fare ranging from light snacks to full meals to alcoholic beverages. External links Blizzard Beach
