Diocese Of Saint Albans

The Diocese of St Albans forms part of the Province of Canterbury in England. The Diocese was established in 1877 extending its jurisdiction over the two counties of Essex and Hertfordshire. In 1914, the new diocese of Chelmsford was formed removing Essex from the diocese. A few months later the county archdeaconry of Bedford was removed from the diocese of Ely giving the diocese its current boundaries. It includes: The diocese is divided into three Archdeaconries:
