Diminished (Music)

A diminished chord is a dissonant, "double-flatted" musical chord. It's accomplished by flattening the third and fifth notes of a triad or tonic and adding a dominant seventh. A C-diminished, for example, would consist of C, E-flat, G-flat, B-flat and once again C an octave higher. See the entry under diminished chord for a more in-depth explanation.
