Digitizer

In telecommunication and computing, the term digitizer has the following meanings: 1. A device that converts an analog signal into a digital representation of the analog signal. Note: A digitizer usually samples the analog signal at a constant sampling rate and encodes each sample into a numeric representation of the amplitude value of the sample. 2. A device that converts the position of a point on a surface into digital coordinate data. Source: from Federal Standard 1037C and from MIL-STD-188
