Diagramming Sentences

In linguistics, diagramming sentences is a method of displaying the syntax of a sentence in a picture. It can help when learning a new lanuguage to be able to see the structure, especially for those that find remembering or absorbing grammar rules difficult. Most methods of diagramming are based on the work of Alonzo Reed and Brainerd Kellogg in the nineteenth century, though the method has been updated in line with recent understanding of grammar. Most examples of diagramming use English however the technique can be applied to any language. However it is especially appropriate to languages, such as English, with a lot of complexity in their syntactic structure.
