Desert Aire is a census-designated place located in Grant County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,124.

Geography

  Aire is located at 46°41'6" North, 119°55'29" West (46.685121, -119.924811). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 15.5 km² (6.0 mi²). 8.5 km² (3.3 mi²) of it is land and 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 45.39% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,124 people, 371 households, and 296 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 132.7/km² (344.0/mi²). There are 723 housing units at an average density of 85.4/km² (221.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 64.50% White, 0.18% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 30.96% from other races, and 3.56% from two or more races. 46.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 371 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.4% are married couples living together, 4.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.2% are non-families. 16.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.03 and the average family size is 3.35. In the CDP the population is spread out with 31.2% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 107.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 112.4 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $35,719, and the median income for a family is $36,971. Males have a median income of $25,417 versus $20,188 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $18,719. 6.5% of the population and 4.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.1% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
