Denton, Greater ManchesterDenton is a town in the conurbation of Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. It 1991 it had a population of 35,820. It is part of the borough of Tameside. During the industrial revolution, Denton was known as a hatting town, where hats were produced for aristocrats. This was the main focus of Dentons industry. On December 5, 1992, it became a twin-town to Montigny le Brettonneux, near Paris, France. Notable people to come from Denton, Manchester include Mick Hucknall, who became the lead singer of Simply Red.
